Newborn and Baby Photoshoots Questions

When should I book my newborn photoshoot session?

If you’re not pressed for time, sessions can be booked at any time. Ideally though, newborn photography sessions are usually booked according to your due date so that the session lands on a date when the baby is between 5 to 10 days old. It’s never too early to book, especially since I only take a certain amount of newborns per month to ensure the best service & quality. When booking your session, you will be sent the agreement to read and sign and a 50% retainer fee will be due.

Why does my newborn have to be between 5 to 10 days?

Every passing day your little bundle of joy will be more aware of his/her surroundings and what seems like just a few days to you will make a huge difference in the studio. All these cute cuddly newborn baby pictures you see online of sleepy babies are usually done at under 14 days. Your baby will be sleepier, cuddlier and easy to pose in all those cute little positions when he/she is still just a few days young.

Why is a newborn photography session so long?

Every baby is different and although I would love to be able to predict exactly how every session will go, that can be a little difficult. The session timing is perfect for feeding your baby and making sure he/she is sleeping during the posing process. I always try to get at least one picture of your baby alone and/ or with a prop, family / sibling pictures and of course with mom & dad.

What should I bring to make the newborn photo session go smoothly?

You can definitely make sure to bring everything in your diaper bag and extra. Extra diapers, extra wipes, extra milk and extra swaddle blankets. I understand not everyone likes to give the pacifier and formula, but for your session day, it is definitely recommended to have these handy to help baby sleep and maximize your session time. Props, backdrops, hats and headbands are all at the studio. I like to try to get new things regularly but feel free to bring your own special somethings for your session. This way, you are sure to have something unique to your session.

Maternity Photoshoots Questions

When should I schedule my maternity photography session?

It is best to schedule your maternity session at 32 to 34 weeks pregnant. Your belly will have the perfect size to photograph and you won’t be too tired to pose in studio, outdoors or even at home.

What should I wear/ expect?

Your maternity photoshoot session is about you and your belly. When booking your session, we will go over the overall look, your likes, dislikes, what you’d like to focus on and are comfortable with during the time we have together. I will give you a few suggestions based on what you decide for your session (in studio, colored backdrops, at home, etc). Tight dresses in basic colors, lingerie for bare bellies are all things you can change into. I recommend two outfits for your session but always make sure to bring a few extra options.

On another note, a t-shirt and jeans always works for the daddy! And for the rest of the family (if other kids are involved), please don’t be matchy matchy, just coordinate outfits with color.

General Photoshoot Questions

Can I upgrade my photoshoot package after the session?

Yes, you definitely can upgrade your package options at any time. For half session all inclusive packages though, sometimes knowing beforehand is better so you can maximize your session time.

How do I decide if I should do the photoshoot at home, outdoors or in studio?

The look and feel of these three options are very different. It all comes down to personal choice.

What happens if I can’t make it to the session?

Don’t worry! Life happens and I understand if you couldn’t make it for whatever reason. Besides for a newborn session which must be scheduled within the first 14 days of baby’s birth, if your session is cancelled within 48 hours of your scheduled time, your deposit is safe and can be applied to any session type for a period of one year. Unfortunately, deposits are not refundable.

How long does my photo gallery stay up for?

Your online gallery to choose from will be up for a period of 14 days. If for any reason you did not have time to finalize your order and your gallery must be reuploaded, a service fee of $50 will be charged.

Can you help me choose and frame my pictures and even place them at home?

Of course! I can give you advice to choose your final pictures by phone, email or even back at the studio and help you with the customized framing I offer. If you’d like me to help you design a layout and come by your place, a service fee of $100 will be charged.
